"Lost Land" Premiere at Venice

Venice, Italy – The world premiere of Akio Fujimoto’s LOST LAND in the Orizzonti Competition at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival was met with a warm and deeply engaged reception. The audience responded strongly to the film’s poignant portrayal of two Rohingya children on a dangerous journey in search of their family.

Following the screening, co-producer and Rohingya activist Sujauddin Karimuddin took the stage to share personal and real accounts of the ongoing struggles and injustices faced by the Rohingya community. His words underlined the urgency and authenticity that inspired the film.

While the two young lead actors, themselves from the Rohingya community, were unfortunately unable to attend due to restrictions on international travel, their absence was felt and acknowledged by the audience. The festival atmosphere nonetheless honored their powerful contribution to the film, with many expressing admiration for their performances.

LOST LAND marks director Fujimoto’s latest exploration of displacement, survival, and resilience, continuing his commitment to stories of marginalized voices. The premiere highlighted not only the artistic merit of the film but also its human and political relevance, resonating strongly within the festival’s broader conversations.
